Under the Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya scheme, separate toilet facilities have been provided for boys and girls in all government schools. Sanitation grant of Rs. 5000 per year (for 10 months) has been given for the cleanliness and maintenance of toilets and drinking water facilities available in all schools in rural areas at the rate of Rs. 500 per month. The following activities should be conducted regularly for the cleanliness and maintenance of toilets and drinking water facilities in schools and for the development of cleanliness and healthy habits among boys and girls:-

1. Teachers should regularly inform students about cleanliness and healthy habits during the prayer session.
2. Weekly, after the prayer session, cleanliness habits of boys and girls should be tested, such as cleanliness of nails, body, uniform, etc.
3. Mirrors should be installed in the school, so that students can arrange their uniforms and hair, etc. after coming to school.
4. Necessarily before mid-day meal Make arrangements for all students to wash their hands with soap. Before preparing food, the concerned persons must wash their hands with soap. 5. Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of toilets, drinking water premises, classrooms, verandahs in the school. 6. Arrangement of running water or water from a small tank should be made in the toilets of the schools. 7. To ensure the participation of students in the daily activities of the school and to develop leadership skills, a Bal Sansad should be formed and they should be given the responsibility of work. 8. A cleanliness monitor should be nominated for each class and a new boy/girl should be made a monitor every month. 9. The teacher in charge of mid-day meal of the school should be nominated as the teacher in charge of school cleanliness and health programs. 10. The name and mobile number of the cleaner of the school premises and toilets should be necessarily mentioned on the school building/notice board. Process of formation of Bal Sansad
A Prime Minister should be selected from the children enrolled in the school through the election process. 35 students from class 3 to 5 or 8 should be selected as Swachhata Scouts and 6 teams (team 5x6-30) of 5 Swachhata Scouts each should be formed and a team leader should be selected from them. The team leader will lead the entire team. Each team will have a teacher in charge. Where there are less teachers, two or three teams can be combined and a leader can be made in charge. Here, the participation of girls should be in a fixed ratio.
The Prime Minister will assign the responsibility of work to the team leader of each team by assigning them departments as follows.
