Change in Exam Pattern, New Syllabus for Class 3 to 12; It will be implemented from the next session

The central government is preparing to change the pattern of board exams which are held once every year.  After an important meeting held on Wednesday under the new National Education Policy, the Union Education Ministry said that board exams in the country will now be conducted twice a year.  These steps will give the student a chance to get good marks

According to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a new structure of board exams is being prepared under the new National Education Policy and books will also be prepared accordingly in the academic session of 2024.  The main motive behind this decision is to make the board exam easier.

With this kind of structure, everyone will have ample opportunity to get good marks and also to develop adequate understanding of each subject.  Now soon the state boards may issue directives in this regard.  At present, the recommendation of taking board exams twice in the new education policy has been sent to the Centre.  A final decision on this issue is pending.  On the other hand, three states of the country Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka have opposed the new education policy.  Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka D.K.  Shivakumar has said that Karnataka will make its own separate education policy.  A committee has also been formed to move forward in this direction.

Why exam twice... Students will be able to assess preparation

  •  Some rationales for twice board exams are given.  As such, students will be able to self-assess their preparation.
  •  They will not need to memorize the same subject or related facts for a whole year.
  •  Instead of taking months of coaching or memorizing various chapters, understanding and competency will increase.  In this way the understanding of the subjects will deepen and practical skills will also develop.
  •  Students will be able to appear in the subject till then, in which they are not able to give their best.
